Welcome to Summer! What's on your summer agenda? Baseball? BBQs? or maybe some boating? As a Smart Homeowner, you know keeping up with home maintenance can sometimes feel like a chore. The good news is that tackling a few small tasks now prevents big headaches (and expensive repairs) later.
June Maintenance Mission: Summer Proofing
This month's focus is sealing that deck, controlling pests and touching up exterior paint.
Your tasks for the next 30 days are:
Seal the Deck: If your deck needs sealing or staining, now is the perfect time to do it before the high summer sun bakes the wood.
Perimeter Patrol: Walk the entire perimeter of your home and look for pest entry points (small gaps in siding, holes near utility lines). Seal them up!
Touch-Up Time: Check the exterior paint and caulk. If you notice any peeling or cracking, touch it up to protect the underlying wood from summer moisture.
Outdoor Lighting: Clean and check all outdoor lighting fixtures and replace any burned-out bulbs for better security and curb appeal.
Swap Your Furnace Filter: A dirty filter restricts airflow, and makes your A/C work harder than it want to. Show it some love by changing your furnace filter.
