🛠️ Home Maintenance Checklist for October
Boo! October can be a scary month if basic home maintenance is not done. As a Smart Homeowner, you know keeping up with home maintenance can sometimes feel like a chore. The good news is that tackling a few small tasks now prevents big headaches (and expensive repairs) later.

October Maintenance Mission: Fan Support
This month's focus is clearing the leaves, winterizing fans, and protecting your outdoor items.
Your tasks for the next 30 days are:
Rake the Leaves (Again): Mulching is also an option. This is also the most critical time to clear leaves from your gutters and downspouts. Clogged gutters are the number one cause of winter foundation issues.
Fan Direction Switch: Switch your ceiling fans to the reverse (clockwise) direction on a low speed. This pushes warm air trapped near the ceiling down into the room.
Weather Stripping Check: Feel around all windows and doors again to check on your weather stripping and seals. Install a door sweep where needed.
Outdoor Put-Away: Clean, dry, and store or cover all your outdoor furniture, planters, and equipment to protect them from winter weather.
Your Furnace Filter wants to go Trick-or-Treating: This year take it with you, or at least swap it out before your go.
That’s all for this month! Knock these items out, and you can relax knowing your home is performing perfectly.
Happy home-owning!
